YES. Calibration is required before your first scan. Spectrum Color recommends calibrating once a month, ideally in the working environment of the vessel. Keep the calibration tiles clean and stored safely. Instructions can be found on page 3 of the instruction manual.

Yes. Please make sure your email address is registered with Spectrum Color, as update notifications are sent by email when app updates are available.

To export folders and use the device correctly, you must scan the QR code provided and ensure you are working within the Basic Access Spectrum Color package. To add the package: locate the three lines in the top left of the app, go to Settings, Manage Account, Redeem Code, then scan the QR code or enter code: CLBXZ.

No. You should submit a separate folder for each repair, unless the repairs are within close proximity of the scanned area.

A spray-out sample is provided with all custom matches. Hold that sample against the vessel you are repairing to review the match.

Yes. However, the device must be 100% flat against the surface for an accurate scan. The device uses LED lights and must maintain full contact with the surface being scanned.

After completing a scan, the scanned color will display a heart icon in the bottom right corner. Tap it to create a new folder or save to an existing folder. Repeat for all 6 scans.

NO. The device must be placed directly and completely flat on the surface being scanned, with no barrier of any kind.

NO. Scanning wet gel coat will damage your device. Ensure the surface is completely dry and fully cured before scanning.

No. The device is very delicate, and damage from dropping is not covered under warranty. Handle with care at all times.

Please make sure you remove the dust cap before scanning.

Six scans provide a more complete and accurate picture of the color data. A folder cannot be exported until all 6 scans have been saved.

This is a quality assurance checkpoint for our production team. It allows them to quickly verify that the correct folder has been submitted.

Once the folder is received, production reviews the data. If everything is in order, a customer service representative will contact you to confirm your order and submit the sales order.

Performance degradation is very unusual unless the device has been physically damaged.

YES. The surface must be clean, free of dirt and debris, and have a shiny finish. Ensure the area is free of blemishes and scratches. Buff and polish the area, then wipe down with a clean cloth. In some cases, we strongly recommend sanding with 320, 600, and 1000 grit paper, then buffing, polishing, and wiping down before scanning.

No. Only folders can be exported, and a folder must contain 6 scans before it can be exported.

The industry standard is 1.0 dE. Spectrum Color's standard is a match under 0.5 dE.

The battery lasts 3 to 5 years depending on care. The battery cannot be replaced.

Connect the included USB cable to the charging port on the device. The LED ring will show 1 to 4 LEDs filling while charging, and will flash once when the battery reaches 75 to 100 percent.

YES. A cloud subscription is required to submit folders to Spectrum Color. Without an active subscription, folders cannot be submitted.

No. The device requires a consistent, active subscription to operate correctly. The subscription must remain active year-round.

NO. The calibration and scanning process is designed for gel coat only. The device is not intended for use with paint products.

YES. Spectrum Color Eye users can now purchase custom color in quart quantities, rather than being required to purchase a full gallon.
